The new state standard will contribute to improving the management of services in the halal tourism sector, providing tourism products and services in accordance with Islamic principles, and enhancing customer satisfaction in this area.

The Azerbaijan Institute of Standardization (AZSTAND), operating under the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has adopted the state standard AZS OIC/SMIIC 9:2026, “Halal Tourism Services — General Requirements.”

The new standard covers accommodation facilities, tour packages, tourist guides, and other tourism services related to halal tourism. It establishes the key principles and requirements for managing the products and services provided at halal tourism facilities intended for travelers.

The purpose of implementing the halal tourism standard is to strengthen the capacity of tourism enterprises and organizations to effectively manage halal services, provide tourism products and services in accordance with Islamic principles, meet customer requirements, and thereby enhance customer satisfaction.

It should be noted that the aforementioned standard was submitted by the Technical Committee for Standardization on Tourism and Related Services (AZSTAND/TC 06) and approved by AZSTAND before being included in the State Fund of Normative Documents on Standardization.
