The awareness-raising event provided practical examples of forms of conduct that may lead to restrictions of competition in market relations and explained the regulatory instruments established under the Competition Code to prevent such practices.

An open lecture on safeguarding competition was organized for students through the joint efforts of the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Sumgait State University.

During the lecture, Rovshan Jamalov, Head of a Sector at the Agency’s Department for State Supervision over Natural Monopolies, delivered a presentation entitled “The Benefits of Safeguarding Competition.”

The presentation covered the fundamental principles of competition policy and explained the nature of agreements that restrict competition in the market. Participants were also informed about the criteria for determining a dominant position, cases of abuse of a dominant position, as well as the substance and organization of state supervision by the competition authority over the activities of natural monopoly entities.

The event also included detailed explanations of the liability measures applicable for violations of competition legislation and the regulatory mechanisms in place in this area.

The event concluded with answers to questions from the students.
