A commemorative event marking May 20 – World Metrology Day was held at the Azerbaijan Metrology Institute (AzMİ) under the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In his opening remarks, Elnur Baghirov, Chairman of the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, provided information on the expansion of the country’s metrological infrastructure and measurement capabilities, as well as measures implemented in this area.

Particular emphasis was placed on the special attention accorded to the field of metrology within the framework of the socio-economic reforms carried out under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev.

It was noted that the establishment of new laboratories under the Azerbaijan Metrology Institute, the expansion of international cooperation, and the development of the national time infrastructure make an important contribution to the country’s sustained development.

Director General of AzMİ Khamis Seyranov and Deputy Director General Madar Guliyev subsequently delivered presentations on the Institute’s activities, recent achievements, and ongoing projects, as well as the history of the development of metrology services in Azerbaijan, its modern laboratory infrastructure, and strategic objectives. The event also featured a congratulatory message from Dr. Annette Koon, Director of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM), and a video presentation reflecting the history of the development of metrology services in Azerbaijan.
