The meeting focused on strengthening public-private cooperation in the textile industry, fostering a healthy competitive environment, expanding opportunities for local manufacturers to participate in public procurement, and protecting consumer rights.
A meeting was held at the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan with a delegation from the Azerbaijan Association of Textile Manufacturers and Exporters. Representatives of business entities operating major textile facilities and production sites across the country also attended the meeting.
Elnur Baghirov, Chairman of the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Farida Akhundova, Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Association of Textile Manufacturers and Exporters, addressed the meeting.
The speakers highlighted the importance of measures aimed at ensuring that consumers have access to safe and high-quality textile products, strengthening the competitiveness of local manufacturers, and supporting the sustainable development of the textile industry. It was emphasized that strengthening oversight of the safety characteristics of products placed on the market, particularly children's products, is a key priority in protecting consumers’ lives and health.
The participants were also informed about measures implemented under the “State Program on Harmonizing the National Standardization System with International Requirements for 2023–2025”, as well as draft technical regulations developed on the safety of light industry products and children's products.
The discussions also covered ways to expand opportunities for local manufacturers to participate in public procurement, strengthen cooperation between businesses and government institutions, and address other issues contributing to the development of the textile sector.
The event concluded with answers to entrepreneurs’ questions concerning the development of the textile industry.
